Additional Canada Education Savings Grant - Overview
The Additional Canada Education Savings Grant (A-CESG) is money provided by the Government of Canada for Canadian children from low-income and middle-income families. This money is added to a child’s Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) to help them receive the maximum grant amount.
This grant money is in addition to any money they might be getting through the Basic Canada Education Savings Grant (Basic CESG).
Like the Basic CESG, the money from the Additional Canada Education Savings Grant can be used after high school to help pay for either full-time or part-time studies:
- in an apprenticeship program;
- at a CEGEP;
- at a trade school;
- at a college; or
- at a university.
Note: If a child does not attend school after high school, any grant money received must be paid back to the Government of Canada.
